Scope

This policy applies to the Olier website at olier.ai, related Olier services, and the Olier ChatGPT app served from https://mcp.olier.ai/mcp.

Olier helps gardeners search plants, read plant encyclopedia information, compare plant guilds, and find companion plants using ecological datasets and location-aware suitability checks.

Information We Process

We receive and process the information needed to answer your request or operate Olier. Processing does not always mean we permanently store it.

Plant and garden inputs

When you search, compare plants, ask for suitability, or use the Olier ChatGPT app, we may process plant names, WFO IDs, locations, guild compositions, garden notes, and other request inputs. These inputs are used to return plant facts, local suitability checks, guild scores, and companion recommendations.

Saved or submitted information

We save information only when you choose a feature that requires saving or submission. This may include saved guilds, saved gardens, community submissions, reviews, reports, survey responses, feedback, and uploaded plant images or files. Some saving features may require signing in with Google or another authentication provider.

Account information

When you sign in, we may receive and store account information such as your email address, display name, avatar URL, and authentication identifiers.

Location information

• When you provide a place name, latitude, or longitude, we use it to estimate local climate and growing suitability.
• When ChatGPT shares coarse user location metadata with the Olier ChatGPT app, we may use that coarse location to answer local gardening questions.
• Olier does not require precise GPS coordinates or a street address for the ChatGPT app. If you provide precise coordinates yourself, we use them only for the requested plant or garden analysis.

Automatic information

• Basic technical data such as IP address, user agent, request time, URL, device/browser information, and logs needed for security, debugging, abuse prevention, and reliability.
• Approximate region inferred from network or hosting services when needed for routing, security, or local feature behavior.

Payment information

If you purchase a paid feature, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store full card numbers. We may receive payment status, customer identifiers, subscription status, and related billing metadata from Stripe.

How We Use Information

• To answer plant, garden, suitability, and companion-plant requests.
• To resolve plant names to WFO IDs and return relevant ecological, climate, and encyclopedia information.
• To save account-linked gardens, guilds, community activity, preferences, or feedback when you choose those features.
• To operate, secure, debug, monitor, and improve Olier.
• To process payments, manage subscriptions, and prevent misuse.
• To comply with legal, security, and platform requirements.

ChatGPT App Data Use

The Olier ChatGPT app exposes read-only plant tools. These tools search plant records, return plant encyclopedia facts, evaluate plant guilds, and recommend companion plants. They do not create public posts, send messages, delete user data, or change publicly visible internet state.

Tool responses may include plant names, WFO IDs, ecological scores, location suitability summaries, plant photos, and concise structured data needed for ChatGPT and Olier widgets to answer the request. We aim to avoid returning unnecessary personal identifiers, internal logs, request IDs, secrets, or unrelated user data.

Your ChatGPT use is also governed by OpenAI's applicable terms and privacy practices. Olier receives the tool inputs and metadata that ChatGPT sends to the Olier app in order to fulfill your request.

Sharing And Service Providers

We do not sell your personal information. We may share information with service providers that help us run Olier, including:

• Hosting, security, CDN, and infrastructure providers, including Cloudflare and server hosting providers.
• Database, authentication, and storage providers, including Supabase and object storage/CDN services.
• Payment processors, including Stripe.
• AI, geocoding, analytics, or debugging providers when needed to provide a requested feature or operate the service.
• Marketplace or affiliate partners when you choose to follow an outbound product link.

We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect users or the service, or in connection with a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.

Public Content

If you submit a guild, review, report, profile information, or other community content to public or shared areas of Olier, that content may be visible to other users. Do not include private information in public submissions.

Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Olier, maintain security and backups, resolve disputes, comply with legal obligations, and improve the service. Some logs may be kept for a shorter operational period, while account, payment, or user-submitted content may be kept until deleted or no longer needed.

Your Choices

• You can choose not to sign in and use many public Olier features without an account.
• You can avoid sharing precise location and instead provide a broader place such as a city, region, or country when local suitability is needed.
• You can request access, correction, export, or deletion of personal information by contacting us.
• You can manage billing through the available Stripe customer portal when subscribed to paid features.

Children

Olier is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Olier, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

International Processing

Olier may process and store information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international processing.

Changes

We may update this policy as Olier changes. The latest version will be posted at https://olier.ai/privacy with an updated date.
